Bill Pulte Appointed Acting Director of National Intelligence
President Donald Trump has appointed Bill Pulte as the acting director of national intelligence, following Tulsi Gabbard's announcement of her resignation.
Bill Pulte has been appointed by President Donald Trump as the acting director of national intelligence, succeeding Tulsi Gabbard, who plans to resign at the end of June. Pulte, currently serving as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, has been praised by Trump for his extensive experience in managing sensitive matters regarding financial markets, particularly during his tenure overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
While Pulte assumes the acting role, he will continue his responsibilities with the Federal Housing Finance Agency and the leadership of both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The position of director of national intelligence requires Senate confirmation, but Trump's choice to appoint Pulte in an acting capacity bypasses the immediate need for this process. It remains unclear if Pulte will be considered for the position permanently.
Pulte has faced scrutiny due to his previous actions targeting political opponents, including criminal referrals made against figures such as New York Attorney General Letitia James and Senator Adam Schiff, both of whom denied the allegations. Pulte's tenure has also included controversies involving investigations into Federal Reserve officials.
