Myles Garrett Traded to Rams in Historic Move
The Cleveland Browns have finalized a trade to send star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, receiving Jared Verse and multiple future draft picks in return.
In a landmark trade, the Cleveland Browns have agreed to send Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, to the Los Angeles Rams. The trade includes defensive end Jared Verse, a first-round pick in 2027, a second-round pick in 2028, and a third-round pick in 2029.
Garrett waived his no-trade clause to facilitate the deal, which marks the first occurrence in league history of a reigning Defensive Player of the Year being traded. Browns General Manager Andrew Berry has confirmed the trade, which alters both franchises’ trajectories significantly.
Garrett's history of trade speculation dates back to last spring, coinciding with a request he later rescinded after securing a record contract extension. Following a 2025 season that saw him achieve personal accolades without team success, trade discussions resumed during the offseason, especially after the Browns restructured his contract in March.
The Rams, looking to bolster their defense after narrowly missing a Super Bowl appearance in 2025, are optimistic that Garrett will contribute to a championship-contending team. Meanwhile, Verse, a former Defensive Rookie of the Year and two-time Pro Bowler, brings youth to the Browns’ defense and aligns with their ongoing roster reset strategy.
