Police Investigate Videos of Men Emerging from Sewers in Brooklyn

Resumen

Authorities are investigating videos showing groups of men emerging from manholes in Brooklyn, but they have assured the public that there is no immediate threat.

Police in New York City are looking into videos that have surfaced online, depicting groups of men climbing out of manholes in various Brooklyn neighborhoods. Officials have stated that there is no current threat to public safety.

The videos, reportedly filmed last week, show individuals not affiliated with public works organizations accessing the sewer system. Law enforcement believes these individuals may be searching for valuables that enter the sewage system. A senior law enforcement official confirmed that the NYPD deployed its Emergency Services Unit to inspect the area and found no indications of any hazardous conditions left by the group. The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) also conducted checks and reported no damage to the sewer infrastructure.

One video shows a man lifting a manhole cover, allowing several others dressed in coveralls and protective gear to surface near McDonald and Bedford avenues. In another instance, a man opened a manhole and climbed out into traffic, accompanied by five others, some of whom were carrying shovels. Despite these occurrences, police have not linked the two incidents directly.

No injuries have been reported, and there have been no arrests as the investigation continues, according to a police spokesperson.
