Trump asserts Iran seeks a favorable deal amid ongoing military tensions

President Donald Trump asserted on Monday that Iran is eager to negotiate a favorable deal for the United States and its allies. His comments come amid renewed military strikes between the U.S. and Iran, with both sides claiming to have targeted military installations near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil traffic.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump remarked, "Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the U.S.A. and those that are with us." He also vented frustrations about political opposition, suggesting that critics are complicating his capacity to negotiate effectively. Trump advised, "Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end - It always does!"

Negotiations are further complicated by Iran's demands for guarantees concerning a ceasefire in Lebanon, as hostilities escalate amid Israel's ground offensive against Iran-backed Hezbollah. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized that any ceasefire violations would be viewed as breaches across all fronts, calling out the U.S. and Israel for the repercussions of such actions.

The U.S. Central Command reported conducting "self-defense strikes" on Iranian radar and command sites, while Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed to have targeted a U.S. air base in response. Reports have also emerged indicating that Trump requested revisions to the terms being discussed with Iranian officials, particularly concerning nuclear materials, although this information remains unverified.

Kuwait reported that its air defenses intercepted missile and drone attacks, with its Foreign Ministry condemning these actions as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability and undermines de-escalation efforts. As intermittent talks between Washington and Tehran persist, the prospect of a formal agreement remains uncertain.
