President Donald Trump took to social media early Monday morning to advise the nation to remain calm during ongoing tensions with Iran, stating, "Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end. It always does!"
In his post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that Iran is eager to negotiate a resolution to the conflict, and he rebuffed criticism from Democrats and some Republicans about the pace of his administration's actions. He noted that political dissenters complicate his ability to carry out effective negotiations by demanding conflicting approaches.
Trump originally predicted the war would last only a few weeks and has consistently claimed victory in the conflict, asserting on March 11 that the U.S. had won almost immediately. He has made statements regarding the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil supplies, which has resulted in higher crude prices and inflation impacting American consumers.
Earlier this month, Trump downplayed the economic consequences of the conflict on American citizens, prioritizing national security concerns over economic impacts. "I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation, I don’t think about anybody," he said, indicating his singular focus on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
