Several individuals were injured early Tuesday morning due to an implosion at a chemical treatment facility in Longview, Washington. The incident occurred around 7:18 a.m. at the Nippon facility, where chemical treatment products are produced for paper manufacturing.
The Longview Fire Department stated that multiple individuals suffered chemical burns and were transported to local hospitals, although the full extent of their injuries has yet to be determined. Firefighters, along with a Hazardous Materials Team, are currently collaborating with Nippon employees to address the situation involving the chemical vat and its contents.
Authorities have confirmed that there is no immediate threat to public safety, but they advise people to avoid the area and Industrial Way while emergency operations are underway.
