UFC to Host Fight at White House on Trump’s 80th Birthday
The UFC has announced plans to stage a fight on the White House lawn on June 14, coinciding with President Trump’s 80th birthday, as part of the celebration for America’s 250th anniversary.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has outlined plans for a fight to be held at the White House, scheduled for June 14, which marks President Trump’s 80th birthday. Construction for the octagonal cage, designed to include an arch adorned with stars and seating for thousands, is already underway on the South Lawn.
Trump has indicated strong interest in the event, noting a high demand for tickets. He remarked, "I have never seen anybody want anything so much as people want those tickets. It’s a one of a kind U.F.C."
UFC President Dana White shared that the idea for the White House fight originated during a conversation with Trump while they were watching an event together. Trump suggested it as a way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America, leading to immediate logistics planning.
White revealed that he would distribute 200 tickets, with Trump planned to provide 1,000. Other tickets are allocated to UFC executives and U.S. military members. The relationship between Trump and White has been mutually beneficial, as Trump initially supported the UFC by hosting events at his venues when the sport faced criticism. White has reciprocated by advocating for Trump within the Republican Party.
A White House spokesman stated that the UFC event is shaping up to be “one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history,” highlighting Trump's vision for the 250th anniversary celebrations.
