President Trump, meanwhile, commented on social media that negotiations related to the Iran deal are advancing. He proposed that any future agreement should necessitate additional countries, such as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, to join the Abraham Accords, a series of agreements from his previous administration that aimed to normalize relations between Israel and various Arab nations. Trump emphasized that, given the complexities involved, it should be required for these nations to sign simultaneously.
Despite Trump's push for Saudi Arabia and Qatar to participate, the kingdom has indicated that any normalization with Israel must first address Palestinian statehood. Political analysts note that Pakistan's stance on Israel remains unchanged, which could hinder the implementation of Trump's proposal. Masood Khan, former Pakistani ambassador to the U.S., remarked that the introduction of the Abraham Accords into the discussions adds a new dimension to diplomatic efforts, with Pakistan playing a key role in the ongoing negotiations. However, the timeline for any conclusive deal with Iran remains uncertain, with Trump suggesting that even Iran might join the accords if an agreement is settled.
