Republican Senators Criticize Proposed U.S.-Iran Peace Deal

Several Republican senators have voiced strong opposition to President Donald Trump's proposed peace agreement with Iran, expressing concerns that the deal may compromise U.S. national security and regional stability.

Senator Roger Wicker, chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, criticized the rumored 60-day ceasefire, stating it would be a "disaster" and render the achievements of Operation Epic Fury meaningless.

Senator Lindsey Graham warned that if the deal is perceived as a concession to Iranian terrorism, it could shift the balance of power in the region and pose a long-term threat to Israel.

Senator Ted Cruz expressed deep concern that the agreement might allow Iran to retain its nuclear capabilities and control over the Strait of Hormuz, calling such an outcome a "disastrous mistake."

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the proposed terms, comparing them unfavorably to the 2015 nuclear agreement and urging decisive action to neutralize Iranian threats.

In response to the backlash, President Trump emphasized that negotiations are progressing constructively and that there is no rush to finalize the deal, asserting that time is on the United States' side.
