Russian Missile and Drone Attack Strikes Kyiv, Causing Casualties and Damage

Resumen

A Russian missile and drone assault on Kyiv resulted in at least one death, multiple injuries, and significant damage to residential areas.

In the early hours of Sunday, Kyiv was subjected to a substantial missile and drone attack by Russian forces, leading to at least one fatality and several injuries. The assault caused extensive damage across multiple districts, including Shevchenkivsky, Dniprovsky, and Podilsky. Residential buildings, a school, and other infrastructure sustained significant harm.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that debris from the attack ignited fires in various parts of the city. He confirmed that one person was killed and at least three others were injured.

The Ukrainian Air Force had previously cautioned about the potential use of the hypersonic Oreshnik ballistic missile by Russian forces. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted that the deployment of such advanced weaponry "sets a global precedent for other potential aggressors."

This attack follows a Ukrainian drone strike on a technical college in the Russian-occupied Luhansk region, which reportedly resulted in at least four deaths and over 30 injuries. Russian authorities condemned the strike as a "monstrous crime" and indicated plans for military retaliation.

The escalation underscores the intensifying conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with both nations engaging in significant military operations targeting each other's territories.
