In a thrilling start to the Western Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs edged out the Oklahoma City Thunder 122-115 in double overtime on Monday night. Victor Wembanyama led the Spurs with a standout performance, recording 41 points and 24 rebounds. This marks the first time since Wilt Chamberlain in 1960 that a player has achieved at least 30 points and 20 rebounds in their conference finals debut.

Wembanyama's impact was pivotal in the game's closing moments. He hit a 28-foot three-pointer with 27 seconds remaining in the first overtime to tie the score at 108-108, forcing a second overtime. In the subsequent period, he scored the first four points, giving the Spurs a lead they maintained until the final buzzer.

Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson praised Wembanyama's resilience, stating, "That young man, he has a rare desire to step into every moment that's in front of him." Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault acknowledged the need for adjustments, commenting, "We've got to solve a few problems and be better in Game 2."

The Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, recently named MVP, struggled early but finished with 24 points and 12 assists. Alex Caruso led Oklahoma City with a career-high 31 points, including eight three-pointers. For the Spurs, rookie Dylan Harper contributed significantly in his unexpected start, adding 24 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals, and six assists.
