Analysts Report Surge in Insider Trading on U.S. Military Conflicts

Analysts have observed a significant rise in insider trading connected to U.S. military operations, with recent cases involving substantial profits from classified information.
Last month, Master Sgt. Gannon Ken Van Dyke was indicted on federal charges for allegedly using information about the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to earn $400,000 on the prediction market platform Polymarket.
Investigations have revealed that military-related bets on Polymarket, particularly those with less than 35% odds, have a 52% success rate, compared to just 7% for sports bets.
Further analysis identified nine interconnected Polymarket accounts that collectively profited $2.4 million by betting almost exclusively on U.S. military operations, achieving a 98% win rate.
These findings have raised concerns about the prevalence of insider trading in prediction markets and the potential exploitation of sensitive military information for financial gain.
