During the Gunfighter Skies Air Show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, two U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler jets collided midair while performing an aerial demonstration. All four crew members ejected safely and are reported to be in stable condition.
The aircraft were part of the Electronic Attack Squadron 129 based in Whidbey Island, Washington. Following the incident, the base was placed on lockdown, and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene.
A bystander video captured the collision, showing the jets making contact, twisting, and then crashing to the ground, resulting in a plume of dirt and fire. Four parachutes were observed descending above the crash site.
The remainder of the two-day air show was canceled, and an investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
The Gunfighter Skies Air Show marked the first full air show at the base since 2018.
