Resumen

A 19-year-old University of Washington student was fatally stabbed in an off-campus housing complex; a 31-year-old suspect has surrendered to authorities.

A 19-year-old University of Washington student was fatally stabbed on May 10 in the laundry room of the Nordheim Court Apartments, an off-campus housing complex affiliated with the university. The victim, identified as Juniper C. Blessing, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blessing's family described her as "highly intelligent, extremely talented, and deeply sensitive to the needs of others," adding that her loss "not only devastates us but diminishes the world."

On May 13, a 31-year-old man surrendered to the Bellevue Police Department in connection with the homicide. He was transferred to Seattle Police Department custody and booked into King County Jail for investigation of murder.

University of Washington President Robert J. Jones expressed condolences, stating, "There are no words that can express the profound loss of a student." He acknowledged the particular impact on the LGBTQIA+ community, noting that violence affecting a transgender person can be especially concerning.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released a motive for the attack.
