Seattle police have released images of a suspect linked to the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old University of Washington student and are seeking public assistance in locating him.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark blue long-sleeve zip-up shirt with a triangle emblem on the left front, a white collared shirt underneath, dirty blue jeans, and dark shoes, possibly gray, with light soles. He has dark-rimmed glasses, short black hair, and a goatee with ingrown scruff around the jaw.

The incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. on May 10 at the Nordheim Court Apartments, an off-campus housing complex affiliated with the university. Officers responding to reports of a stabbing found the victim in a laundry room. Despite lifesaving efforts by police and the Seattle Fire Department, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, a transgender woman, was a University of Washington student. The King County Medical Examiner's Office will confirm her identity.

Seattle Police Department Detective Eric Muñoz emphasized the urgency of apprehending the suspect, stating, "This individual just committed a homicide; they should be considered armed and dangerous." He added, "It's important we catch them and bring them to justice as fast as we can."

University of Washington President Robert Jones addressed the impact of the incident on the community, noting that violence affecting a member of the LGBTQIA+ community can cause additional distress. He stated that the Division of Student Life is reaching out to students and communities affected, providing support and resources during this difficult time.

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson expressed her office's commitment to supporting the communities surrounding the victim, emphasizing that every young person deserves to feel and be safe, supported, and surrounded by a community that believes in them and their future.

Residents of Nordheim Court have reported that the door to the laundry room where the stabbing occurred had been broken for months. The complex is managed by Greystar, which handles maintenance requests. The company has not responded to requests for comment.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call the Seattle Police Homicide Tip Line at 206-233-5000. If the suspect is seen, individuals should call 911 immediately.
