Seattle police have released images of a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old University of Washington student, seeking public assistance in the investigation.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve dark blue zip-up shirt over a white-collared shirt, dirty blue jeans, and dark shoes, possibly gray, with light soles. He has dark-rimmed glasses, short black hair, and a goatee.

The incident occurred around 10:10 p.m. on Sunday at Nordheim Court, an off-campus housing complex affiliated with the university. Officers responding to reports of a stabbing found the victim in a laundry room. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim, a transgender woman, has not been publicly identified. University of Washington President Robert Jones addressed the community, stating, "While investigators have not yet identified a suspect or a motive, I want to recognize that when violence affects a member of our LGBTQIA+ community, it can cause additional distress."

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson also commented, saying her office is collaborating with the university and the UW Q Center "to provide support to the communities who surrounded this young trans woman."

Residents of Nordheim Court reported that the door to the laundry room where the student was found had been broken for months. The complex is managed by Greystar, a company responsible for maintenance requests. Greystar did not respond to requests for comment.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Seattle Police Homicide Tip Line at 206-233-5000. If the suspect is seen, individuals are advised to call 911 immediately.
