Hannah Harper Wins 'American Idol' Season 24
Missouri's Hannah Harper clinched the 'American Idol' Season 24 title, becoming the first female country singer to win since Carrie Underwood.
Missouri native Hannah Harper was crowned the winner of "American Idol" Season 24 during the live finale on May 11, 2026. The 26-year-old stay-at-home mother of three is the first female country singer to win the competition since Carrie Underwood in Season 4.
The finale began with the elimination of Keyla Richardson, a music teacher from Florida, leaving Harper and Jordan McCullough, a 27-year-old worship director from Tennessee, as the final two contestants. Harper's performances included Alicia Keys' "No One" and her original song "Married Into This Town," which moved judge Carrie Underwood and the audience.
Upon winning, Harper performed Chris Tomlin's "At the Cross (Love Ran Red)" as her coronation song, joined on stage by fellow contestants and judges. Overcome with emotion, she expressed her disbelief, stating, "I just can't even fathom or wrap my head around everything that just happened. It'll hit me, soon, probably."
Harper plans to embark on a tour following her victory, noting, "I didn't care where I was going to place. I knew I was going to hit the ground running as soon as I left here." She intends to take a brief break before performing almost every weekend until September or October.
Runner-up Jordan McCullough reflected on his journey, saying, "I left my heart out on that stage tonight. I just want to live in the moment right now and be present in what's happening."
The finale featured performances from guest artists including Alicia Keys, Nelly, Brad Paisley, and Clay Aiken, who debuted his first new single in nearly two decades.
