President Trump Inspects Newly Coated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

President Donald Trump made an unannounced visit to the Lincoln Memorial on Thursday to inspect the Reflecting Pool's new 'American flag blue' coating. The $2 million project replaces the original gray stone, which Trump criticized as undesirable.

Accompanied by Cabinet members, including Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Trump was driven across the newly coated pool before addressing reporters. He stated that the previous color was 'never good' and expressed satisfaction with the new appearance.

The decision to renovate the Reflecting Pool was influenced by a friend's remark about its dirty appearance. Trump opted for a cost-effective resurfacing plan using materials from trusted pool contractors, aiming to complete the project in a few weeks, well before the nation's 250th Independence Day celebration on July 4.

This initiative follows other renovations under Trump's direction, including the demolition of the White House's East Wing to add a new ballroom. Critics have expressed concern that the president is focusing on aesthetic projects over pressing national issues.

Trump also mentioned plans for the Lincoln Memorial itself but provided no specifics, stating only that 'we have a beautiful plan' in mind.
