United Airlines Flight Strikes Light Pole During Newark Landing; Minor Injuries Reported

Resumen

A United Airlines flight from Venice to Newark struck a light pole during landing, causing minor injuries to a truck driver on the New Jersey Turnpike.

On Sunday afternoon, United Airlines Flight 169, a Boeing 767 arriving from Venice, Italy, struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike during its final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport. The aircraft, carrying 221 passengers and 10 crew members, landed safely without injuries onboard.

The impact caused the light pole to fall onto a Jeep and damaged a delivery truck on the highway. The truck driver sustained minor injuries, was treated at a hospital, and subsequently released.

United Airlines stated that its maintenance team is evaluating the aircraft's damage, and the crew has been removed from service pending a thorough flight safety investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation, directing United to provide the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder. An NTSB investigator is expected to arrive in Newark on Monday, with a preliminary report anticipated within 30 days.
