Trump Rejects Iran's Proposal to End Conflict and Defer Nuclear Talks

President Donald Trump has rejected Iran's recent proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict and deferring discussions on its nuclear program. The proposal, conveyed through mediators in Pakistan, suggested a phased approach: initially ceasing hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with nuclear negotiations to follow at a later stage.

Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the offer, stating, "It's not acceptable to me. I've studied it, I've studied everything – it's not acceptable." He emphasized that Iran has "not yet paid a big enough price" and indicated a preference for addressing nuclear concerns upfront.

The 14-point plan from Iran proposed a 30-day period to transform the current ceasefire into a complete end to the war. However, the U.S. administration remains firm on maintaining the naval blockade of Iranian ports until a comprehensive deal addressing the nuclear issue is secured. Trump remarked, "The blockade is somewhat more effective than the bombing. They are choking like a stuffed pig. And it is going to be worse for them. They can't have a nuclear weapon."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reaffirmed Iran's openness to diplomacy, contingent on the U.S. reducing hostile rhetoric and demands. Despite the rejection, diplomatic efforts continue, with both sides expressing a willingness to negotiate under certain conditions.
