Bryson DeChambeau Denies Reports of PGA Tour Return Amid LIV Golf's Financial Uncertainty

Résumé

Bryson DeChambeau refutes claims of seeking a return to the PGA Tour, affirming his commitment to LIV Golf despite the league's financial challenges following the withdrawal of Saudi funding.

Bryson DeChambeau, a two-time U.S. Open champion, has denied reports suggesting he is seeking a return to the PGA Tour amid financial uncertainties surrounding LIV Golf. The league faces challenges after Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced it will cease its multibillion-dollar sponsorship at the end of the 2026 season.

In response to claims that his representatives had initiated discussions with the PGA Tour, DeChambeau stated,

"It's completely untrue. I'm working as hard as I can to find a solution."

He emphasized his dedication to the team-based format of LIV Golf, asserting,

"I'm committed to making team golf work in the best way possible. I think there's a place for it in the ecosystem and I want to continue to grow the game across the world."

DeChambeau also revealed that LIV Golf is developing a junior golf initiative, with plans for each team to establish junior golf academies and host events in the coming months.

Having joined LIV Golf in June 2022 on a reported $125 million contract set to expire at the end of this season, DeChambeau expressed optimism about negotiating a new agreement. He acknowledged the league's current financial challenges but remained resolute in his commitment, stating,

"There's a lot of moving parts like in any business. It's a startup, right? And so there's going to be times where we're squeezed and punched. This is one of those moments. But I'm going to do everything in my power to make it work and I really see the value in franchise golf."

LIV Golf is actively seeking new investors and has appointed a new independent board to secure fresh backing following PIF's decision to withdraw funding.
