Apple Reports Record Earnings Amid Leadership Transition
Apple announces record quarterly earnings and outlines leadership transition as John Ternus prepares to succeed Tim Cook as CEO in September.
Apple has reported a record-breaking second-quarter revenue of $111.2 billion, marking a 17% increase from the previous year. iPhone sales contributed $57 billion, up 22% year-over-year. Outgoing CEO Tim Cook described it as the company's "best March quarter ever."
During the earnings call, Cook addressed the upcoming leadership transition, expressing confidence in his successor, John Ternus. "There's no one on this planet I trust more to lead Apple into the future," Cook stated. He advised Ternus to focus on Apple's core mission: "Never forget the north star for the company."
Ternus, currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will assume the role of CEO on September 1, 2026. He emphasized his commitment to maintaining Apple's financial discipline and hinted at future developments, noting an "incredible roadmap ahead."
The company also highlighted its advancements in artificial intelligence, with plans to integrate AI across its product lineup. Cook mentioned that businesses are utilizing Macs for AI applications and announced upcoming AI advancements to be unveiled at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in June.
Apple acknowledged potential supply constraints affecting iPhone and Mac production in the upcoming quarter, attributing them to increased demand driven by AI applications. Despite these challenges, the company remains optimistic about its growth trajectory under the new leadership.
