The U.S. State Department will release limited-edition passports featuring President Donald Trump's image to commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary.

The U.S. State Department has announced plans to issue a limited number of commemorative passports featuring President Donald Trump's image, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. These special edition passports will be available starting in July at the Washington Passport Agency.

The design includes President Trump's portrait overlaid on the text of the Declaration of Independence, with his signature in gold ink below. An illustration of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration appears on an adjacent page. The back cover features a modified 1777 U.S. flag bearing the number "250."

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated that the department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed U.S. passports to commemorate this historic occasion.

Critics have raised concerns about the inclusion of a sitting president's image on official documents, viewing it as a departure from traditional practices. Georgetown University professor Edward Kolla noted that no U.S. passport design in history has featured an image of the president, and no head of any state has been pictured on a foreign passport.

The State Department has confirmed that these commemorative passports will maintain all standard security features and will be available at no additional cost to applicants who apply in person at the Washington Passport Agency.
