U.S. Rejects Iran's Proposal to Reopen Strait of Hormuz Amid Stalled Negotiations

The United States has dismissed Iran's recent proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz under strict conditions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Iran's offer, which requires coordination and permission from Tehran, is unacceptable. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz criticized the U.S. approach, stating that Iran is 'humiliating' the United States by engaging in negotiations that yield no results. He expressed concern over the lack of a clear U.S. exit strategy and drew parallels to previous conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for global oil shipments, has been effectively closed since late February due to escalating tensions. The closure has led to significant disruptions in global energy markets and heightened geopolitical tensions.
