Trump Initiates Cost-Effective Renovation of Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool

President Donald Trump has announced a renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, opting for a cost-effective resurfacing method to address longstanding issues.

The Reflecting Pool, constructed in the 1920s, has experienced significant deterioration over the years. President Trump highlighted that the existing granite surface was "leaking like a sieve" and would require years to replace.

To expedite the process and reduce costs, the president enlisted swimming pool experts he had previously worked with. The chosen solution involves cleaning the existing granite and applying an industrial-grade pool surface in an "American flag blue" hue. This approach is estimated to cost $1.5 million and is expected to be completed within a few weeks, well ahead of the nation's 250th Independence Day celebration on July 4.

President Trump emphasized the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of this renovation, contrasting it with a previously considered plan that would have cost $301 million and taken at least three years.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, situated between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, is a historic site where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963.

This renovation is part of a series of projects initiated by President Trump to refurbish national landmarks, including the demolition of the White House's East Wing to make room for a new ballroom.
