Apple's Base Model Mac mini Unavailable Amid Supply Chain Challenges

Apple's base model Mac mini, featuring the M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage, is currently listed as "Currently Unavailable" on the Apple Online Store. This unavailability extends to all M4 Mac mini configurations with 256GB storage, regardless of RAM capacity. Higher-end models with increased storage or the M4 Pro chip remain available, though some configurations with 32GB or more RAM are also out of stock.

The shortage may be attributed to a global memory chip supply issue, which has previously affected other Mac models. In March, Apple removed the 512GB RAM option from the Mac Studio lineup, and in early April, certain Mac mini and Mac Studio configurations with higher RAM capacities became unavailable.

Alternatively, the stock depletion could signal an impending product refresh. Apple is reportedly developing M5 and M5 Pro versions of the Mac mini, with releases anticipated later this year.

As of now, Apple has not provided an official explanation for the unavailability of the base model Mac mini.
