Apple Plans Variable Aperture for iPhone 18 Pro Camera

Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a variable aperture lens in its upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models, according to information from a reputable Chinese leaker. This feature would allow users to adjust the amount of light entering the camera lens, providing greater control over depth of field and improving performance in varying lighting conditions.

The leaker also mentioned that Apple is evaluating additional camera upgrades for future iPhone models, including a larger main camera sensor, enhanced optical image stabilization for the ultra-wide lens, and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. However, these features are not expected to be implemented in the iPhone 18 Pro.

The iPhone 18 Pro is anticipated to launch in September 2026, continuing Apple's trend of annual smartphone releases.
