Gates Foundation Initiates External Review of Epstein Connections

Ամփոփում

The Gates Foundation has commissioned an external review to assess its past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein and to evaluate current policies for developing new philanthropic partnerships.

The Gates Foundation has initiated an external review to examine its past engagements with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as well as to evaluate its current policies for developing new philanthropic partnerships.

In a statement, the foundation announced that CEO Mark Suzman commissioned the review earlier this year. The board and management are expected to receive an update this summer.

The foundation has faced scrutiny due to Chairman Bill Gates' association with Epstein. In February, the U.S. Department of Justice released documents revealing communications between Epstein and foundation staff. The foundation stated that it did not make any financial payments to Epstein or employ him at any time and regrets any interactions its employees had with him.

During a town hall meeting with foundation employees in February, Gates addressed his ties to Epstein, taking responsibility for his actions.

The Gates Foundation, established by Bill and Melinda Gates in 2000, is one of the world's largest philanthropic organizations, focusing on global health and development initiatives.
