President Trump's Economic Approval Declines Amid Iran Conflict and Rising Prices

Resumen

A recent AP-NORC poll indicates a decline in President Donald Trump's approval rating on economic matters, coinciding with the ongoing conflict in Iran and escalating prices.

President Donald Trump's approval rating on economic matters has declined, with a recent AP-NORC poll indicating a drop to 30% in April from 38% in March. This decrease coincides with the ongoing conflict in Iran, which has contributed to rising prices and economic instability.

The poll, conducted from April 16 to 20, reveals that only 23% of U.S. adults approve of Trump's handling of the cost of living, while 76% disapprove. Additionally, 73% of respondents describe the national economy as "very" or "somewhat" poor, an increase from 66% in February.

The conflict in Iran has led to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments, resulting in higher energy prices. Although the strait was reopened by Iran during the polling period, it was subsequently closed again, reflecting the volatility of the situation.

Trump's overall job performance approval stands at 33%, down from 38% last month. This decline is evident across party lines, with even Republican support showing signs of erosion.

The AP-NORC poll surveyed 2,596 adults nationwide, with a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
