Patriots Coach Mike Vrabel Addresses Photos with Reporter Dianna Russini

Résumé

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed recent photos with reporter Dianna Russini, emphasizing personal conversations and commitment to the team.

New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel addressed the media on Tuesday regarding recent photos of him with former Athletic reporter Dianna Russini at an Arizona resort. Speaking at Gillette Stadium, Vrabel acknowledged having "difficult conversations" with his family, the organization, coaches, and players, describing them as "positive and productive."

Emphasizing the importance of decision-making, Vrabel stated, "We believe that in order to be successful on and off the field you have to make good decisions. That includes me, that starts with me." He expressed a commitment to ensuring his actions do not negatively affect the team or cause distractions.

Vrabel did not mention Russini by name and indicated that further discussions would remain private. He apologized for not addressing the situation earlier, explaining his priority was to speak with the team first. The Patriots began voluntary organized team activities on Monday.

The photos, published by the New York Post on April 7, showed Vrabel and Russini together at the Ambiente hotel in Sedona, Arizona, on March 28. Both are married to other people and have downplayed the nature of the images. Russini resigned from The Athletic on April 14, stating her desire to prevent the situation from defining her career.

The NFL confirmed it is not investigating the matter, and a Patriots spokesperson stated that no further comment from team officials is planned.
