Amazon Prime Settlement Claims Deadline Approaching
Eligible Amazon Prime customers have until July 27, 2026, to file claims for refunds up to $51 as part of a $2.5 billion settlement with the FTC.
Amazon Prime customers eligible for refunds under a $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have until July 27, 2026, to submit their claims. The settlement addresses allegations that Amazon enrolled consumers in Prime subscriptions without their consent and made cancellation difficult.
The FTC's lawsuit alleged that Amazon used deceptive practices to enroll consumers in Prime and created obstacles for those attempting to cancel. Amazon denied any wrongdoing but agreed to the settlement to resolve the matter.
Eligible customers include those who signed up for Prime between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and either enrolled through certain methods or attempted to cancel but were unsuccessful. To qualify, customers must have used 10 or fewer Prime benefits during any 12-month period of enrollment.
Amazon began sending claim notices to eligible customers in January 2026. Claims can be submitted through the official settlement website or by following instructions provided in the notice. The deadline for submission is July 27, 2026.
Refund amounts are based on the total Prime membership fees paid during the subscription period, with a maximum refund of $51 per customer. Amazon has 30 days to review each claim, and payments are expected to be issued by September 2026.
The FTC advises consumers to be cautious of potential scams. The agency will not contact individuals about refunds, demand money, or promise prizes. Official communications will come from Amazon or the settlement administrator.
For more information or assistance with the claims process, customers can visit the official settlement website or contact the settlement administrator at [email protected].
