Singer D4vd Arrested on Suspicion of Murder in Connection with Teen's Death
Alt-pop singer D4vd, legally known as David Burke, has been arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposed body was found in his impounded Tesla.
Alt-pop singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The arrest follows the discovery of Hernandez's decomposed body in September 2025, found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to Burke.
Hernandez, a resident of Lake Elsinore, was reported missing in 2024. Her remains were discovered in an impounded Tesla after a tow yard employee noticed a foul odor emanating from the vehicle. The car had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills before being towed.
Burke, 21, is currently being held without bail. His attorneys have stated, "Let us be clear — the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death."
The Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the investigation. Authorities plan to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Monday for filing consideration.
D4vd gained prominence in 2022 with viral songs like "Romantic Homicide" and "Here With Me." Following the discovery of Hernandez's body, Burke canceled his remaining tour dates and promotional events.
