Singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The Los Angeles Police Department announced that Burke, 21, is being held without bail following his arrest in connection with Hernandez's death.
Hernandez's decomposed body was discovered in September 2025 inside a Tesla registered to Burke. The vehicle had been towed from the Hollywood Hills after being left seemingly abandoned. Hernandez had been reported missing in 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California.
Burke's defense attorneys have asserted his innocence, stating, "Let us be clear—the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death."
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine whether to file charges. Burke had been under investigation by a grand jury, a fact revealed in February 2026 when his family contested subpoenas demanding their testimony.
At the time of the body's discovery, Burke was on tour promoting his debut album, "Withered." Subsequent performances were canceled following the incident.
