Brian Hooker Released from Custody Amid Ongoing Investigation into Wife's Disappearance in the Bahamas
Brian Hooker has been released from Bahamian custody as authorities continue investigating the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, who went missing during a boating trip.
Brian Hooker, 59, was released from Bahamian custody on Monday evening after being detained for five days in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55.
The couple, both from Michigan, were known for their sailing adventures. On April 4, while traveling in an eight-foot dinghy from Hope Town to Elbow Cay, Brian reported that Lynette fell overboard. He stated that strong currents carried her away, along with the boat's keys, which disabled the engine and prevented him from reaching her.
After paddling to shore, Brian alerted authorities about his wife's disappearance. The Royal Bahamas Police Force initiated a search and rescue operation, which has since transitioned into a search and recovery effort.
During the investigation, authorities executed a search warrant on the couple's boat, seizing electronic devices that may contain material evidence related to the case.
Brian's attorney, Terrel Butler, stated that he denies any wrongdoing and is cooperating fully with the investigation.
Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has called for a thorough investigation into her mother's disappearance. She described her mother as an experienced swimmer and sailor, expressing skepticism about the events as described by Brian.
The investigation remains ongoing, with both Bahamian authorities and the U.S. Coast Guard involved in the efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding Lynette Hooker's disappearance.
