Husband Arrested in Connection with Wife's Disappearance in the Bahamas

Summary

Brian Hooker has been arrested following the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, who reportedly fell overboard during a boating trip near Elbow Cay in the Bahamas.

Brian Hooker, 59, has been arrested by Bahamian authorities in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55, who was reported missing after allegedly falling overboard near Elbow Cay. The couple, both from Michigan, had been sailing in the Bahamas on their yacht, "Soulmate," documenting their journey on social media.

According to Brian Hooker's account, the incident occurred on the evening of April 4, when Lynette fell from their 8-foot dinghy during a trip from Hope Town to Elbow Cay. He stated that she was swept away by strong currents and that he lost sight of her. He then paddled to shore to seek help.

Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has expressed skepticism about this account, citing her mother's experience as a sailor and swimmer. She also referenced a history of domestic issues between the couple, including past incidents of violence.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force arrested Brian Hooker on April 8 for additional questioning. His attorney, Terrel Butler, stated that he "categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing" and is cooperating with authorities.

The U.S. Coast Guard has initiated a criminal investigation into Lynette Hooker's disappearance. Search efforts by Bahamian authorities and local volunteers have so far been unsuccessful, and the operation has transitioned from a rescue to a recovery mission.
