Summary

Former Vice President Kamala Harris indicates she is contemplating a run for the presidency in 2028 during a civil rights convention in New York.

At the National Action Network's annual convention in New York, former Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the possibility of a 2028 presidential run. Responding to chants of "Run again!" from the audience, Harris told Rev. Al Sharpton, "I might. I am thinking about it."

Harris highlighted her experience, stating, "I served for four years being a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. I spent countless hours in my West Wing office footsteps away from the Oval Office. I spent countless hours in the Oval Office and the Situation Room. I know what the job is, and I know what it requires."

The convention also featured other potential Democratic candidates, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

Harris's remarks mark one of her most explicit indications of considering another presidential campaign since her 2024 loss to President Donald Trump.
