Trump Asserts U.S. Military Presence in Iran Amid Ceasefire

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that U.S. military forces will remain stationed in and around Iran until Tehran fully adheres to the recently established ceasefire agreement. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that all U.S. ships, aircraft, and military personnel will stay in place until the "REAL AGREEMENT" is fully complied with. He warned that any breach would result in military action "bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before."

The ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, was agreed upon by Washington and Tehran to halt six weeks of fighting. The agreement includes provisions for Iran to refrain from developing nuclear weapons and to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open and safe for commercial shipping.

Despite the ceasefire, tensions persist. Israel has continued its military operations in Lebanon, resulting in at least 182 fatalities on Wednesday. In response, Iran indicated that proceeding with peace talks under these conditions would be "unreasonable," highlighting the fragility of the current truce.

Oil prices have risen amid ongoing hostilities in the region. Brent crude futures for June delivery increased by 2.46% to $97.08, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures for May climbed 3.4% to $97.55.

Lebanese Minister of Economy Amer Bisat expressed concern over the conflict's impact on his country, stating that Lebanon was "forced into this war" by external parties and is paying a "devastating price."
