Wireless Festival Canceled After UK Denies Entry to Ye Over Antisemitic Remarks
The UK government has denied entry to rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, citing his past antisemitic comments, leading to the cancellation of the Wireless Festival.
The UK Home Office has denied entry to rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, citing that his presence "would not be conducive to the public good." This decision follows backlash over Ye's past antisemitic remarks, including praising Nazis and denigrating Jewish people.
As a result, the Wireless Festival, where Ye was scheduled to headline, has been canceled. Festival Republic, the event's organizer, announced the cancellation and stated that refunds would be issued to all ticket holders.
In response, Ye expressed a desire to meet with members of the UK's Jewish community, stating, "I know words aren't enough—I'll have to show change through my actions. If you're open, I'm here."
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer commented on the situation, saying, "Kanye West should never have been invited to headline Wireless."
