On April 7, 2026, a shooting occurred near the building housing the Israeli consulate in Istanbul's Levent district. Three armed individuals opened fire on police officers stationed outside the consulate. In the ensuing gunfight, one attacker was killed, and the other two were injured and subsequently detained. The assailants, armed with long-barreled weapons, had traveled from Izmit, approximately 100 kilometers east of Istanbul, using a rented vehicle.
