OraOrea Launches Coriolis Pointer Date Watch

OraOrea, a new independent watch brand established by Zach Weiss, co-founder of Worn & Wound and Windup Watch Fair, has unveiled its inaugural timepiece, the Coriolis Pointer Date. This model reflects Weiss's extensive experience in the watch industry, focusing on meticulous design and everyday usability.

The Coriolis Pointer Date features a 38.5mm stainless steel case with a thickness of 12.1mm, including the crystal. Its design includes broad, curved lugs and a compact 45mm lug-to-lug measurement. The case construction comprises multiple components, allowing for a combination of brushed and polished finishes. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings enhances the watch's profile. The 6mm fluted crown, adorned with the brand's colored logo, contributes to the watch's 100-meter water resistance.

The dial is available in three colors: Skyline Silver, Venetus Teal, and Rhodium Black. It showcases a layered design with concentric rings. The outer ring displays even Roman numerals for hours, while the inner ring features odd Roman numerals, separated by a railroad-style minutes and seconds track. Each hour is marked by small gold hemispheres positioned on both sides of the minutes ring. A raised central date index with custom-designed numerals provides symmetrical placement, serving as the visual anchor of the dial. The hands are sharply defined and three-dimensional, with slight color variations corresponding to the dial variant.

Powering the Coriolis Pointer Date is the Sellita SW386-1 automatic movement, derived from the slim SW300 and adapted for a central pointer date function. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a 56-hour power reserve. The movement is presented in a high-grade execution (D4) with enhanced finishing and a customized rotor, visible through the sapphire caseback.

The watch is paired with an Italian vegetable-tanned leather strap, featuring a pin buckle and quick-release spring bars for convenience. Priced at $3,950, deliveries are expected in late 2026. OraOrea notes that the provided images are of pre-production samples.
