OpenAI Acquires Tech Talk Show TBPN to Enhance AI Dialogue

OpenAI has acquired TBPN, a daily live tech talk show known for its in-depth discussions on technology and business. The acquisition aims to accelerate global conversations around artificial intelligence (AI) and its societal impacts.

TBPN, launched in 2024 by entrepreneurs John Coogan and Jordi Hays, has gained a significant following in Silicon Valley. The show features live, unedited interviews with prominent figures in the tech industry, including Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

Fidji Simo, OpenAI's CEO of Applications, emphasized the importance of this move, stating, "We're not a typical company. We're driving a really big technological shift." She highlighted that TBPN will maintain its editorial independence, continuing to run its programming, choose guests, and make editorial decisions without interference.

The acquisition reflects OpenAI's commitment to fostering open discussions about AI's role in society. TBPN co-founder Jordi Hays noted, "Moving from commentary to real impact in how this technology is distributed and understood globally is incredibly important to us."

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, reports indicate that TBPN was on track to generate over $30 million in revenue in 2026.

This strategic move positions OpenAI to engage more directly with the public on AI-related topics, leveraging TBPN's established platform and audience.
