DCD Protected Mobility Deploys Armoured Vehicles to Support South Africa's Border Management Authority During Easter Operations

DCD Protected Mobility has deployed armoured vehicles to assist South Africa's Border Management Authority (BMA) in enhancing border security during the Easter period. The deployment includes two Springbuck Standard Duty armoured personnel carriers and a SHERP all-terrain vehicle, aimed at improving patrol operations in challenging terrains such as the Limpopo River area.

Michelle Nxumalo, International Marketing Manager at DCD Protected Mobility, stated that the vehicles are designed to enhance visibility and surveillance in remote border areas, facilitate patrols in difficult terrains, increase officer safety during high-risk operations, and improve mobility to address operational gaps.

The SHERP vehicle's amphibious capabilities are particularly beneficial for navigating the dense vegetation along the Limpopo River, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of BMA's border patrols.

This initiative is part of a broader collaboration within South Africa's defence and security industry. Other companies contributing to the BMA's Easter border operations include Paramount South Africa, Aselsan South Africa, and Unipro Protective Wear. Unipro Protective Wear, in partnership with Aselsan South Africa, is deploying camera technology integrated into bullet-resistant vests, providing the BMA with monitoring and analysis capabilities, including facial recognition.

The collaboration underscores South Africa's capability to design, manufacture, and deploy world-class solutions tailored to the country's security needs. Nxumalo emphasized that DCD Protected Mobility's platforms are combat-proven and internationally recognized, demonstrating that the local industry can meet both domestic and global security demands.
