The Border Management Authority (BMA) has processed nearly 19,000 travellers at the Lebombo Border Post since the commencement of the Easter period. This figure is expected to rise to approximately 25,000 as more individuals pass through the port.
To manage the surge in traffic, the BMA has implemented enhanced security measures, including the use of body cameras to monitor staff and ensure proper processing of travellers. Travellers are reminded to carry valid machine-readable passports with at least two blank pages and to comply with visa requirements. Parents traveling with minors must present the necessary documentation, such as unabridged birth certificates or consent affidavits, to facilitate smooth processing.
The BMA continues to monitor movements, particularly of minor children, to address challenges associated with their travel. Parents are advised to provide the required documents, including affidavits and copies of passports, to confirm consent for travel.
