Security Forces Eliminate 13 Militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Operations

Summary

Pakistani security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the deaths of 13 militants associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

On March 30, Pakistani security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, resulting in the deaths of 13 militants associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The military's media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported that the operations targeted individuals referred to as 'Fitna al Khawarij,' a term used by the state for TTP members.

The first operation took place in the Bara area of Khyber district, where security forces engaged a militant hideout, leading to the deaths of 10 militants. In a separate operation in Bannu district, three additional militants were killed during an exchange of fire. ISPR stated that sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats in the area.

These actions are part of the broader counter-terrorism campaign under the 'Azm-e-Istehkam' initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. The campaign aims to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their efforts. In separate statements, they reaffirmed the nation's resolve to eliminate terrorism and emphasized the importance of continued operations to ensure national security and the protection of citizens.
