India Reviews Measures Amid West Asia Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on Wednesday to evaluate the measures taken in response to the ongoing conflict in West Asia and to assess the availability of essential commodities for the public.

During the meeting, Modi emphasized the need for comprehensive efforts to shield citizens from the conflict's repercussions. He directed the formation of dedicated groups comprising ministers and secretaries to adopt a whole-of-government approach in addressing the challenges posed by the situation.

The CCS reviewed actions implemented by various ministries and departments, discussing further initiatives to mitigate the conflict's impact on India's energy security, supply chains, and overall economic stability.

In a related development, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas provided an update on the country's LPG situation. Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma stated that despite a significant increase in international prices, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained unchanged, ensuring continued affordability for consumers.

The Ministry of External Affairs reaffirmed India's commitment to engaging with the international community to address the West Asia crisis. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted ongoing diplomatic efforts, including discussions between Prime Minister Modi and global leaders, to promote peace and stability in the region.

Additionally, airline carrier IndiGo announced an increase in airfare prices following a government-mandated hike in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices. The new fares will apply to bookings made after 1 am on Thursday, reflecting the adjusted fuel charges.
