US and Israel Continue Military Operations Amid Ongoing Conflict with Iran
President Trump asserts the conflict with Iran is ongoing, as recent attacks result in US service member injuries and continued military actions in the region.
President Donald Trump stated that the conflict with Iran is ongoing, emphasizing that the United States has numerous targets remaining. This announcement follows an Iranian missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on March 27, which injured at least 10 U.S. service members and damaged several refueling aircraft.
In response, Israel targeted two Iranian nuclear facilities: a uranium plant in Yazd and the inactive Arak reactor. Joint U.S.-Israeli strikes in western Iran resulted in at least 20 fatalities. Inside Israel, a cluster munition strike caused one death and four minor injuries.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that the conflict may persist for another two to four weeks, extending beyond initial projections. He also noted that the U.S. is maintaining indirect communications with Iran through mediators.
The Pentagon is preparing to deploy over 6,000 additional troops to the Middle East, including units from the 82nd Airborne Division and two Marine units. However, Secretary Rubio emphasized that the U.S. could achieve its objectives without ground combat forces.
The USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier is expected to deploy to an area near the conflict, though it is unclear if it will join or replace existing U.S. carriers in the region.
