Air Canada Express Jet Collides with Fire Truck at LaGuardia Airport, Resulting in Fatalities and Injuries
An Air Canada Express flight collided with a fire truck at New York's LaGuardia Airport, leading to the deaths of both pilots and injuries to several individuals.
An Air Canada Express Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft, operated by Jazz Aviation, collided with a fire truck while landing at New York's LaGuardia Airport late on March 22, 2026. The incident resulted in the deaths of both pilots and injuries to multiple individuals, including passengers and emergency personnel.
The flight, originating from Montreal, carried 72 passengers and four crew members. The fire truck was responding to a separate emergency involving another aircraft when the collision occurred.
Air traffic control recordings revealed that the fire truck had been cleared to cross the runway moments before the crash. A controller can be heard attempting to halt the truck, saying, "Stop, stop, stop, truck 1 stop, truck 1, stop."
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the incident. LaGuardia Airport was closed until at least 2 p.m. on March 23, leading to significant flight disruptions.
