Missile and Drone Attacks Across Ukraine

Missile and drone attacks were reported across Ukraine overnight on July 4. Officials stated that a residential building in Kyiv was affected.

Journalists in Kyiv reported hearing multiple explosions in the capital starting around 10 p.m. local time, continuing into the early morning of July 4. Ukraine's Air Force reported that a ballistic missile was launched toward the capital around 12:30 a.m.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, confirmed that a fire occurred on the roof of a residential building in the Obolon district of Kyiv following an earlier drone strike. Mayor Vitalii Klitschko stated that initial assessments indicated there was no significant damage or casualties from the fire, but details were still being confirmed.

In the Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv, Tkachenko reported that drone debris had fallen near a school and several residential buildings. Debris from a downed drone also landed in an open area in the Solomianskyi district. Preliminary reports indicated no casualties.

Later in the evening, during a subsequent drone wave, a fire started at a non-residential building in the Solomianskyi district, according to Tkachenko. Emergency crews were present at the scene.

At the time of reporting, information about the extent of the damage was not immediately available.

"Stay in shelters," Tkachenko wrote on Telegram, advising residents to remain cautious.

Images showed residents taking shelter in the subway at the Heroiv Dnipra station during a drone attack in Kyiv on July 3, 2025. Mobile drone units were observed engaging drones heading toward Kyiv on the same date.

Elsewhere in Ukraine, downed drones struck property and a vehicle in the city of Poltava, according to regional Governor Volodymyr Kohut. Two people were reported injured in the incident.

The drone attacks occurred hours after a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. According to the Kremlin, Putin stated that Russia would continue its actions in Ukraine despite calls for a ceasefire from other countries.

In recent weeks, Kyiv and other major Ukrainian cities have experienced increased drone and missile strikes, with Russia deploying Iranian-designed Shahed drones in significant numbers.
