Russian Ballistic Missile Attack on Kyiv Injures Eight and Causes Fires
An overnight Russian ballistic missile attack on Kyiv injured at least eight people and caused multiple fires across the city.
In the early hours of October 25, 2025, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, resulting in injuries and widespread fires. Explosions were reported just before 4 a.m. local time.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, stated that multiple fires had erupted at "several locations on the left bank of the city." Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that firefighters were dispatched to the Darnytskyi and Desnianskyi districts. He added that at least eight individuals were injured, with three requiring hospitalization.
Significant damage occurred in the Desnianskyi and Darnytskyi districts, where non-residential buildings caught fire. In the Dniprovskyi district, the attack shattered windows, damaged vehicles, and left a crater in a residential building's yard. A kindergarten in the same area also sustained damage.
Prior to the explosions, Ukraine's Air Force had warned of incoming Russian ballistic missiles targeting the capital. Air raid alerts were activated nationwide due to the threat of additional missiles.
This assault follows a recent large-scale attack on October 22, which targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, resulting in six deaths and at least 44 injuries. In Kyiv alone, two people were killed and 29 injured during that attack.
