Iran Launches Drone Attacks on Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Amid Escalating Tensions

Résumé

Iran has launched drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, escalating regional tensions as the United States signals potential intensification of military actions.

Iran initiated drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and Kuwait early Tuesday, intensifying regional tensions. The Saudi Defense Ministry reported intercepting drones over the kingdom's oil-rich eastern region, while Kuwait's National Guard confirmed shooting down drones in the country's northern and southern areas.

These assaults coincide with U.S. President Donald Trump's mixed signals regarding the conflict's duration. Late Monday, Trump suggested the war might be a "short excursion," yet hours later, he threatened severe retaliation if Iran attempts to obstruct oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.

The ongoing hostilities have significantly disrupted global oil supplies, causing Brent crude prices to surge to nearly $120 per barrel before stabilizing around $90—a 24% increase since the conflict began on February 28, 2026.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared their intent to determine the war's conclusion, warning that Tehran would prevent any oil exports from the region if U.S. and Israeli attacks persist.

The conflict has resulted in substantial casualties: over 1,230 fatalities in Iran, more than 300 in Lebanon, approximately a dozen in Israel, and seven U.S. service members.

In response to the escalating situation, the U.S. military has conducted over 5,000 strikes on Iranian targets within the first ten days of the conflict, including more than 50 Iranian vessels, air defense systems, ballistic missile sites, and military communications infrastructure.

The situation remains volatile, with both sides engaging in military actions and issuing statements that suggest a protracted conflict.
